In our premiere print issue release of Firm400 Magazine that made its debut at the 2013 SEMA Show last month, we highlighted some of Southern California's talented and passionate individuals. One of our interviews featured Melissa Miller, where we had the chance to drive down with JR Morales Photography to San Diego and have a brief photo session with "SoCal's Queen Of Drift" & catch up interview. This feature highlights her new and upgraded Z32 motor build as well as her thoughts about the SEMA Show where JDM Sport sponsored her suspension with their 32-Way Adjustable Coilover Systems. Thank you Melissa for your time and hanging out with us during SEMA!! Special Thanks to JR Morales Photography for the photoshoot and traveling accommodations!! Checkout the featured interview that made it to the pages of Firm400 Magazine and is now live on FIRM400.COM:
In a world dominated by male athletes, females have started to make a statement for the opposite sex sharing the same competitive spirit and passion. Especially in motorsports, where guys reign supreme when it comes to the fastlife and now female drivers such as NASCAR's Danica Patrick made her mark pioneering the way for women to take hold of the road and make it their own in the mainstream. It was a few years ago during Sideway Sundays at the Irwindale Speedway where we came across a Z32 (Nissan 300ZX) where many of our fellow affiliates at the track during the grassroots drifting event told us of a female driver (the only female) that was participating that day. It was Melissa Miller, perhaps one of the most humble, down to earth, laid back girls we have met in motorsports and now know personally within the automotive industry. Miller has developed her passion and love for the sport since she was in the arms of her dad in his Z31 making it known that she was indeed a true "Fair Lady". Living her life "Sideways" ever since, Melissa not only loves to work on cars, but also specializes in paint/autobody where she took a 2 year course 8 years ago and has become a "Jill Of All Trades". Everytime it seems like Melissa will have a creative idea to make over her "Fair Lady" and sharing it with her fans. If its a new color scheme, interior accents, and even some Hello Kitty accessories, you would definitely know that this car was built by a female. The glitter within her paint job is something she would love to point out of the body exterior of her Z32 and it was one heck of a nice job put together! Her recent upgrades this year would be her new color scheme within the Z32's engine bay complimenting the new motor build from EPR(EP Racing) which was tuned to about 500hp. JDM Sport also sponsored her suspension with their 32-Way Adjustable Coilover Systems where the performance company is set to booth once again at the SEMA Show this year and having Miller as a special guest for a meet and greet in Las Vegas this November. Making her appearance every year at various events/meets throughout SoCal, Miller has always supported grassroots drifting and has attended just about every Sideway Sundays event ever since its inception back in 2011. Her positive attitude and devoted passion for the sport is the reason why we call her "Southern California's Queen Of Drift".
Firm400 Magazine Featured Interview Q&A With Melissa Miller:
1) Firm400: So Melissa.. How is the drive in your Z32 with JDM Sport’s 32-Way Adjustable Coilover Systems?
Melissa: Smooth sailing! Coilover wise everything went perfect! Well, as perfect as 50+ hours sitting a few inches above the ground in a bucket seat could be!
2) Firm400: So what made you get a Z32?
Melissa: My dad had a Z car. I’m just carrying on the tradition since he’s not around anymore.
3) Firm400: What plans does Melissa Miller have in store for 2014?
Melissa: 2014 plans.... I have a hard time planning next week let alone the whole next year! I would like to try and hit up different events I haven’t hit before in different cities and see how drifting is in the different cities.
4) Firm400: How has the experience been as a female athlete being involved in motorsports that is dominated by males?
Melissa: I get this A LOT! People will look at me talking about cars and their mind is visibly blown from the fact that i’m a girl. They usually apologize and say “Sorry, i’m just not used to that coming from a girl.”.
5) Firm400: What do you like most about SEMA?
Melissa: SEMA. What’s not to like? I like two things, the massive truck tires and the people. The car community is large but everyone seems to know everyone. It’s kinda cool!
6) Firm400: Any Special Shout Outs?
Melissa: Shout out to Firm400 and BamaGZ!
