It was the ultimate goal for JDM Sport to take their products to the track where the successful acquisition of sponsoring Formula Drift driver Forrest Wang gave birth to its proven performance in the motorsports world alongside with female brand ambassador/ProAm Driver Melissa Miller. It was this year that Forrest Wang finished the Formula Drift Season as the Top 4th Ranked Driver in the world bringing to light a promising future for its sponsors within drifting motorsports. Sponsored female driver Melissa Miller continued her passion for driving in 2015 with the addition of two new female drifters(Stephanie & Denise) added to the JDM Sport roster in motorsports. And now at the grand stage of the automotive aftermarket at SEMA in Las Vegas, JDM Sport has refined its line of performance parts and accessories whether it'd be on the track or on the showroom floor.

The SEMA Show continues to grow every year bringing to light the latest trends, demonstrations and unique automotive builds representing manufacturers. In 2015, the dominant centerpiece of the automotive aftermarket industry was the showcase of lifted trucks, Jeeps and BIG wheels.

A few years ago it was the “Rocket Bunny” invasion where Scion FR-S / Subaru BRZ builds flooded the convention center landscape which then followed the “Liberty Walk” movement for tuners. But it was this year that offroad vehicles took over the stomping grounds displaying its lighting/suspension/wheels/tires performance parts and accessories. SEMA Ignited, the organization’s official afterparty for the public returned this year with the addition of Formula Drift showcasing their drift demo as well as the lineup of featured builds that made it to this year’s tradeshow.
Sin City was rather cold this November. The chill factor kicked in bringing in some wet conditions earlier that week which made featured SEMA vehicle owners and outdoor vendors nervous of the weather conditions. However the week progressed with clear skies and the show continued its usual run. Let’s give you the inside scoop on our SEMA 2015 coverage where majority of our time spent that week was with our good friends over at JDM Sport as well as several highlighted builds that caught our eye during the week.
This year JDM Sport returned back to the Upper South Hall. Their new booth layout seemed to flow very well for foot traffic featuring Forrest Wang’s 2JZ Powered Nissan S14 build. It was last season that the “Mean Green Drift Machine” fought long and hard utilizing its sponsored performance parts including JDM Sport’s steel performance lug nuts qualifying throughout the Formula Drift circuit.
The Get Nuts Lab team finished 5th overall for the 2014 Season and moved up to being #4 in the world this year with their new S15 build that was featured at the STR Racing Wheels booth. Forrest Wang continues his momentum and consistency that will eventually lead him and his team to a well deserved future Formula Drift Championship.

JDM Sport Sponsored SEMA Featured Builds:
JDM Sport also had several builds that were featured outside of the Las Vegas Convention Center. Each of the sponsored builds from JDM Sport had its own story to tell and its unique characteristics respectfully. Our first featured vehicle spotlight is on Johnny Avila’s Honda Civic Si build from Octane Racing. The JDM Sport sponsored track car made its debut last year right outside in front of the convention center signage upgrading its white paint with a complete blue wrap exterior.

On stock injectors, the FG2 Civic Si was pushing 380 tuned by Erick’s Racing. Rat Rods are known to be built to drive and not to show however with classics being a rarity on the road, Rey’s classic SEMA build stood out of the crowd. Teck’s Garage put together a custom JDM Sport twin-turbo setup bringing back to life the performance of the classic with their GT35 Turbo Chargers.

1962 Mercury Comet Wagon - Red Dirt Rodz
Jefferson Bryant from Red Dirt Rodz in Stillwater, Oklahoma introduced to us his 1962 Mercury Comet Wagon. This build was right out in front of Central Hall where the green and black featured SEMA vehicle showcased its custom work. The announcement was made earlier this summer via StreetTechMag where Project: "Comet RDR5P62” would be making its appearance this year at the SEMA Show. The 1962 Mercury Comet Wagon is powered by a Ford 347 stroker featuring two 58mm ball-bearing turbos from Precision Turbo and Engine feeding a Holley twin-throttle body EFI system.
Air supply is handled through Burns Stainless tubing. An Aeromotive fuel system pumps the hi-octane fuel from the Summit Racing fuel cell. Inside the 347 cubic-inch engine is a set of forged SRP pistons, Scat forged H-beam rods and crank. The camshaft is a Comp Cams roller piece, driving the Magnum roller rockers bolted onto the RHS Pro Action heads. An Edelbrock dual-carb intake tops off the motor along with a set of custom PRW valve covers. Also the addition of JDM Sport couplers were utilized alongside the amazing engine build of the Comet Wagon. Before the SEMA Show, they took their Mustang for a test run on the canyon of Horse Thief Mile over at Willow Springs International Raceway with Red Bull Global Rally Cross driver Alejandro Fernandez. Checkout the video below:
Thank you Adam and the X-Force family for supporting Firm400!
SEMA 2015 Coverage Highlights
We made our rounds as much as we could throughout the SEMA Show. You probably wouldn't even be able to explore the whole show in one week but if you were able to, then consider yourself lucky! Considering our busy schedule of happenings during SEMA Week, our Firm400 Media team was in full force capturing every moment possible that went down at the convention center. Heading to Central Hall we came across familiar builds we've seen during the show season and some that were amazingly out of the ordinary but displayed its unique creativity. That is where the Valyrian Steel SEMA build stood out of the crowd of featured builds at the show.
The metal-framed 5-passenger, mid-engine based art car is powered by a 5.0 liter modular V8 where you will notice its "Game of Thrones" x Burning Man x Roadkill inspired designed exterior. It is reported that the build isn't complete yet and will have more work done in time for next year's SEMA Show in 2016 and a special appearance at the Burning Man festival.
We came across Turbo By Garrett's booth where we spotted Mad Mike's Mazda Miata build from Formula Drift as well as TruFiber's sponsored all black Ford Mustang build. Not too far from those builds was Adam Carolla's 1971 BRE Datsun 510 Trans-Am 2.5 build that came out to play from his private garage.
Acura "Ludacris" Legend
Heading to the far end of Central Hall, we knew we had to stop by the Honda / Acura booth. The reason why: The Acura "Ludacris" Legend. This build is owned by actor/hip hop artist Chris "Ludacris" Bridges who had this car back when he barely started his music career in the south. Ludacris had mentioned in a past interview that his 1993 Acura Legend had much sentimental value. Earlier in his career he spent majority of his time writing lyrics in that car which led to him to become a mult-platinum selling Grammy award-winning artist and having a successful acting career playing Tej from the Fast & Furious franchise. 2015 marked a good year for Ludacris as his album, "Ludaversal" was released during its run alongside the "Furious 7" release with his own Acura build featured on the album cover of his ninth studio album. Making its appearance at this year's SEMA, the Ludacris Legend underwent a complete restoration from Acura's global creative director, Dave Marek. The chassis/suspension modifications include extensive body, frame and chassis work as well as H&R Springs and Eibach camber kit.
Exterior modifications include Custom Warm Cashmere with Ice Pearl paint / 18-Inch Rays Wheels / Bridgestone Potenza High-Performance 215/40R/18 tires / High Performance 6-Piston Front Caliper and 4-Piston rear caliper brakes. Interior modifications: Restored leather seating surfaces and vinyl dash / Pioneer AVIC 8/ONEX sound system with Apple Carplay & Alpine subwoofer with custom Acura badging. Next up we had to checkout the sexy new Acura NSX.
The NSX is the first and only supercar manufactured in America with global development led by a U.S. R&D team. Its new innovative three-motor Super Handling All-Wheel Drive power unit delivers a completely new supercar experience. The supercar's next-generation capabilities is the NSX's Sport Hybrid power unit, with three electric motors and a bespoke twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter DOHC V-6 engine, producing peak output of 573 horsepower and 550 lb ft of torque and utilizing the instantaneous torque delivery of its electric motors to enhance every element of the supercar's dynamic performance - acceleration, braking and uniquely turning via dynamic and continuous electric motor torque vectoring. Checkout the specs: Exterior: Nouvelle Blue Pearl / Carbon Exterior Package: carbon fiber front spoiler, side sills, rear diffuser and exhaust finisher. Revo Reeves - Stitchcraft Interiors
Earlier in the week, we had the chance to stop by the Stitchcraft Interiors booth interviewing owner Revo Reeves. Revo did some custom work on cars from the Fast & Furious where he brought out this amazing custom classic to showcase for SEMA 2015.
Penzzoil Builds @ SEMA 2015
Penzzoil made a statement this year at the SEMA Show bringing out a melting pot of vehicles including classic Chevys, a VelociRaptor 650 Supercharged Ford F-150 truck, a Nissan GT-R R35 to name a few. The booth also had FREE Giveaways including hats and promotional items.
Eddie Huang's Scion iA "Lowrider" Build
Baohaus chef and owner, Eddie Huang bridges food with culture, music, politics, and metropolitan life. His New York Times best-selling memoir "Fresh Off The Boat" inspired the creation of the hit ABC sitcom "Fresh Off The Boat" which he produces. Eddie is currently hosting and executive producing season three of VICE travel series "Huang's World" and working on his second book.
Ford @ The Concourse In Central Hall & The Ford Mustang
Ford continues its reign at the Concourse in Central Hall. The Ford Mustang has developed much clout throughout the years as the popular modified muscle car platform for the automotive aftermarket. The iconic pony car could be seen doing drift demos outside of the convention center as well as being the featured vehicle to showcase for manufacturers. Labeled as "the sexiest police vehicle you will see outside of Dubai.", the Police DRAGG (Drag Racing Against Gangs & Graffiti) organization developed its own law-enforcement version of the Ford Mustang that was sitting alongside the blue carpet at the Concourse. Here are the specs:
"The sexiest police vehicle you will see outside of Dubai, the DRAGG Mustang brings the best of performance and fuel economy to the law. Tricked-out with a sleek design and custom police lighting this interceptor is capable of drawing your attention quickly whether it is behind you with lights blazing or handling parade duty. The “Thin Blue Line” theme for this #FordSEMA show car really adds character to the exterior and interior trim of this intimidating law enforcer."
Wheels & Tires
Sung Kang's GReddy Fugu Z
It all started with the idea of building a track car. Ever since his childhood, Sung Kang developed an emotional connection to the Datsun classic Z. His dream became a reality where Sung Kang and GReddy got together and materialized the Fugu Z. The reveal of Sung Kang's Fugu Z build took place at the SEMA Show where the RB26 engine replaced the factory motor. Accented alongside the white exterior of the Z would be Kei Miura's Rocket Bunny kit. The Fugu Z was spotted at the Driving Line booth during SEMA Week.
Limitless Society Project S2000
Our friends over at Limitless Society had the chance to stop by our booth earlier during SEMA Week where we had the chance to finally locate their featured build right outside of Central Hall. Built on a budget, you have to respect the fact that Limitless Society founder Luigi Arroyo has gone a long way with his 2008 Honda S2000. Keeping it authentic, the J's Racing widebody kit and list of mods on Luigi's SEMA build has gotten him recognition and top honors at various shows in Southern California. Hats off to Limitless Society on a job well done to #ProjectS2000!
During our run of covering Luigi's car at SEMA, we ran into Chuy Estrada and Glen Villanueva. Although we didn't get the chance to snap shots of their builds during the week, we wanted to recognize their builds through their instagram posts respectively within our coverage for SEMA 2015.
Chuy's dream finally became a reality where his Toyota Tacoma X-Runner build made its debut at the 2015 SEMA Show. The amazing body work from AA Autoworks would make you just want to stare for hours and admire the sexy curves accented along the framework of the build sitting on Work Wheels. Congratulations Chuy! (Instagram: @jstradaxr) For custom body work, checkout AA Autoworks online at http://www.AAAutoworks.com
Glen Villanueva, owner of Long Beach Auto-Tech returned to the SEMA Show this year with his revamped widebody "S2Killin" build. Having been a booth vehicle for JDM Sport, the sexy red S2K got more wider curves now and is getting more attention with its red and gold color scheme. It was earlier at Hot Import Nights in San Pedro that Glen stopped by our booth leaking the S2Killin's new look for November. Be sure to checkout Glen's build in 2016 as the S2Killin will definitely be a showstopper at various shows in Southern California. (Instagram: @gmayhem1)
